I'm an ex-mutual fund accountant who left the cubicle world to be a stay-at-home dad to my beautiful little girl, Avery, who entered our life on 11/15/13. Also happily married to my wife, Kelley, for 7 years as of 8/17/14. Sorry ladies... :) Fitness and nutrition is of the upmost importance in our family and we strive to reflect this in our daily life. I always prepare our meals at home and only go out if it's a special occasion, and even then I tend to not get much. Food should be fun and a joy to eat, not something quickly consumed from a fast food chain or scarf down before the next meeting. I have come from strictly logging high miles to train for the next marathon to keeping exercise varied and focusing more on strength. I still enjoy going for a run when I can, but nothing crazy, and I prefer hill sprints while pushing my daughter, Avery in the stroller. She loves it and I get a great workout! I want to show the world how to appreciate their body and feed it real, wholesome food while moving more throughout the day. In doing so, everyone would be healthier, happier, and we'd all live in a better place as a result. I blog mainly about my life as a stay-at-home dad and frequently include reviews, participate in campaigns, and share my thoughts on fitness and nutrition. If you ever have any questions or thoughts to share, please reach out as I'm always open to listening or helping others however possible. That is, when I have free time since Avery is and my wife are the number one priorities!

Reading To Herself: #MySundayPhoto – 05.24.15

We’ve had books around her since she was born and we have always been reading to her, but lately she’s doing it herself. No actual words usually come out, but she’s jibber-jabbering away and flipping pages as if they were.

This photo was hard to capture because right when the camera comes out, she’ll stop and find something else less picturesque to do.

The quality isn’t the greatest since I took it as fast as possible, but it’s precious nonetheless.

I know this is MySundayPhoto, not Photos, but I was able to snap this shot on my phone after she brought me a book to read and sat in my lap which I feel compelled to share.

She’s starting to actually sit through an entire book as we read too, yay!

Do you kids bring several books for you to read?

What’s your current favorite book?

Daddy’s Workout Partner: #MySundayPhoto – 05.17.15

I’ll never forget my first workout with our daughter. She was all but 2 weeks old and obviously as cute as can be in her little red jumpsuit, but still so intimidating.

squat rack, baby, workout, fitness

Well, time has flown by (just as they all say it will) and that same baby is still coming to the garage with me and performing her own “workouts”. She’s even given a tutorial for toddlers that want to partake in a little kettlebell training.

This week’s picture is of Avery with her toy kettlebell getting ready to do some swings with Daddy as we get warmed up. I love how she knows to get her kettlebell when my wife or I ask her to find it. She also has a “barbell” (wooden rod) that she knows to get when we say so. You can see the rod beside her.

She’s grown so much and I look forward to more exercise and playtime fun as she grows. But there’s no rush for that!

Do you ever bring your kids to workout with you?

Do your kids have any play exercise equipment?

Daddy’s Girl: #MySundayPhoto – 05.10.15

Sorry for the bad timing of my Daddy’s Girl post when it’s really Mother’s Day. If it’s any consolation, I give full credit to my beautiful wife for this picture.

Avery was just having a blast rolling all over our bed, and Going Mom was there to capture some good shots of the wild-child in action.

Thank you, Kelley, for the picture and for being such a wonderful wife and Mother!

Can you remember bouncing on the bed?

Is bed jumping against the rules in your house or fully supported?
