biPro Natural Strawberry Whey Protein Review + Giveaway

I don’t know what you’re making, but is sounds good.” My wife said this just minutes after I opened a container of biPro’s newest whey protein powder, Strawberry.

biPro Natural Whey Protein Powder review and giveaway

biPro asked me if I’d like to review their new strawberry flavor to which I happily accepted. Their natural chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored whey proteins already received my seal of approval, and I expected the new addition would so be added to the highly touted seal.

As I’ve already alluded to, before even tasting the strawberry whey protein, it’s scent of fresh strawberries easily filled half of our house. The aroma was almost instantaneous, and had me eager to give it a try.

With only six ingredients, naturally sweetened with stevia (zero sugar), 90 calories and 20 g of protein per 25 gram serving, this is not the typical, low quality protein powder. Simply looking inside at the powder will reveal tiny pieces of real strawberries.

Probably where the wonderful smell of fresh strawberries comes from; actual strawberries! The only thing I’d like to see is that their whey protein source come from grass-fed cows, and organic would always be preferred. But that is a known factor, not something I would count against them. So, how did I like it?

Solubility – This powder mixes easily in any shaker cup with or without a blenderball. I mixed a scoop in water by just shaking my cup with zero clumping.

Taste – Unlike the wonderfully intense smell, the taste was not as powerful. To some, including me, this is a good thing. I used water to mix, mind you, so any milk will change the flavor a little. It’s not overly sweet that might give it an artificial, chemically flavor. For me, the flavor is subtle, not overpowering, which makes for the perfect foundation of blending with frozen strawberries for a healthy and delicious treat.

Texture – After shaking in water, the mixture turns a creamy pinkish brown. It was smooth, but the color might be off putting. But it’s a welcome color for me since biPro did not use any artificial or natural dyes just to change colors. If it really bothers you, just blend with berries in a blender and you’ll get a more pleasing red/pink color. Problem solved!

I make green smoothies for our family every night before dinner and decided to treat my two lovely girls with the Strawberry BiPro Protein Powder. With lots of greens, spirulina, hemp seeds, frozen strawberries, and the Strawberry protein, I blended with water and a little unsweetened almond milk. The resulting nutrient-packed smoothies were a hit! Smooth, creamy, full of nutrients, and delicious enough to earn a hug and kiss, will have me making many more in the future.

Whether you’re just looking to keep in shape or an elite athlete, biPro is a great choice for a healthy protein supplement free from the artificial stuff found in most. It’s also NOT from China or other country where heavy metals are found. Instead, it’s proudly made right here in America!

FitVine Wine Chardonnay Review

Chardonnay. Just saying it makes you feel classy, right? I guess pronouncing most types of wine seems to give you a one-up in class, or at least I think so.

Going Mom and I have already enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from FitVine, and just finished the last in their lineup, Chardonnay.

biohack, drinking, alcohol

We’ve come to appreciate how FitVine Wine produces a wine for athletes or anyone living a healthy lifestyle. From the extended secondary fermentation allowing less residual sugar and fewer calories to no GMO’s and far less sulfites than found in other wines, I feel good drinking this good feeling beverage.

The chardonnay gave off a slightly mineral aroma upon first pouring. Not a bad smell, but not really citrusy like I expected. We had it chilled and the taste was medium-bodied, not overpowering at all, and slightly dry and crisp. Unlike other wines, there was no lingering aftertaste. This can be good or bad depending on the flavor and if you are pairing it with a certain meal.

White fish with steamed veggies would pair well with this light wine. While the chardonnay was a nice drink, my wife and I both agreed it was not as enjoyable as their other white wine, Sauvignon Blanc. And the one red they offer, the Cabernet Sauvignon, also ranks higher on our favorites list from this winery.

If you do the math, that would pit FitVine’s Chardonnay as our third favorite out of the three wines offered. While that makes it last on their list, it is by no means last on the vast list of wines out there.

FitVine Wine Chardonnay

The fact that their wines are lower in calories from being lower in sugar, not because they’re watered down two-buck chuck kind of wines, and are higher in antioxidants like resveratrol, polyphenols, and proanthocyanidins, all three of their wines are actually in my top 5 favorites.

When it comes to health, even when it’s something like alcohol, I just enjoy the drinks more. I love living a healthy, active lifestyle and appreciate all that FitVine puts into making their well-rounded, palate pleasing wines for all fit-minded people in the world.

Here are the nutrition stats on each wine as provided on FitVine Wine’s site:

Cabernet Sauvignon – Per 5oz glass, 95 calories and 3.4g of carbohydrates

Sauvignon Blanc – Not listed

Chardonnay – Per 5oz glass, 90 calories and 5.9g of carbohydrates

FitVine Wine Cabernet Sauvignon Review

Going Mom and I shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from FitVine Wine the other week, you can read my review here. We both agreed on it being easy-to-drink dry, yet crisp, white wine good for almost any occasion, but our thoughts differed on FitVine’s Cabernet Sauvignon.

FitVine Wine, cabernet sauvignon, healthy, drinking, alcohol,

FitVine describes their Cab as follows:

Classic Cabernet nose of currant, lavender, black licorice and a hint of new oak. Rich purpose soft tannins wrap around flavors of cedar, boysenberry and coffee, chocolate with a hint of leather. Full flavored, clean taste with a smooth finish.

As mentioned in my review of their Sauvignon Blanc, I’m no connoisseur, but I have trained my palate well enough to know to stay clear of Boone’s Farm. Upon pouring the freshly opened bottle into a glass, I quickly picked up on the subtle hint of currant. I sipped, tipped my head back, and took a light breath while holding the wine in the back of my throat and could taste a dry, slightly earthy flavor.

FitVine Wine, cabernet sauvignon, healthy, drinking, alcohol,

The aftertaste was the same leaving a pleasantly clean finish. My verdict was that I enjoyed everything from the first sip to the last. To me it’s a good wine to have with chicken or a steak at dinner. Or, as I prefer, on its own after dinner.

Would a sommelier offer this to someone at a fine dining establishment? Most likely not, but I’m not one for fine dining, I enjoy cooking at home, and I’ll happily choose FitVine Wine’s Cabernet Sauvignon on the rare occasion that I drink.

My wife, on the other hand, was not as pleased, saying it left a “weird taste” in her mouth. Like me, she’s no connoisseur. so she can’t explain in wine terms like what the tannins were like or how earthy undertones rolled off her palate in the wrong way, but she knows what she knows. As the husband, I’ve learned not to question still push my luck sometimes, so I insisted on another glass. Seriously, who can turn down this face?

FitVine Wine, cabernet sauvignon, healthy, drinking, alcohol,

Not Going Mom, that’s for sure. Good thing, because she ended up at least enjoying it more and admitted she’d drink it again. Phew, as a lightweight I need my wife to help me share a bottle…..over the course of a couple days. Hey, told you I was a lightweight!

With their fermentation process resulting in less residual sugars, higher antioxidants, less sulfites, and grapes with no pesticides, FitVine has just what any healthy, active individual would want in an alcoholic drink. The less sugar means a drier wine, so if you like the sweet stuff, don’t expect it to be here. But we could all use a little less sugar anyway, so give it a try!

Having had the Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc thus far, I am positive the average person would content with either choice depending on their preference for white or red wine. If you’re not a wine lover, go for the Sauvignon Blanc, chances are it’ll surprise you.

Last in the lineup for my wife and I to try is the Chardonnay. As always, once we do, you can read about our thoughts right here. Be sure to check out FitVine for yourself and be sure to connect with them on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
