How to Provide for Your Family When You’ve Been Injured in an Accident

If you happen to be a biker dad, then you know that the likelihood of you getting in an accident is high. Without the same protections provided in a car like additional coverage, airbags, and safety belts, chances are you’ve sustained some pretty serious injuries. If these injuries are more than superficial and have prevented you from earning a living for a while, the stress only adds to your long list of concerns. Though recovering and getting back to work is your main priority, there are some things you can do in the meantime to help tide you and your family over financially.

Apply for Disability

The first thing you should try is to file a disability insurance claim. If such insurance is offered through your employer, you may be entitled to take a few weeks off the job while you recover. Disability insurance is only a percentage of your usual take-home pay but can take some of the financial burdens off your family as you get better.  In fact, you should get in touch with your attorney as they can help you out. You can refer to https://1800injured.care/car-accident/fort-lauderdale-attorney/ to learn how an attorney can protect you.

If you don’t qualify through your employer or they don’t offer such insurance, you may be able to file temporary disability with the state or Social Security Administration instead. The process for approval can take a while so the sooner you start the better.

Get an Attorney

If your motorcycle accident was caused by another motorist, you may have a personal injury case on your hands. You can do an online search to find the right injury attorney in your area to represent you. A lawyer can help to ensure you are fairly compensated to cover all of your expenses and protect your future. Should you have a case, it could be determined that you’re entitled to financial compensation, which a lawyer from somewhere like this Detroit motorcycle accident law firm will fight to help you obtain. This could include lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering, and more. The payout from this type of case could help supplement the income you lost and pay for any ongoing treatments related to your recovery.

Apply for Assistance

The government realizes that families fall on hard times and sometimes need help getting back on their feet. Since you’re making less income than when you were employed, this may entitle you and your family to receive government assistance. This can include getting help with groceries, mortgage or rent payments, health insurance, and utility costs. Check with your local department of social services to find out what programs you’d be eligible for.

Work From Home

If the injuries you’ve sustained aren’t too bad, you may be able to get a side gig from home that could help cover some of the costs. Of course you’ll want to run this by your doctor first, however, there are a lot of things you can do without having to be to mobile or exert too much energy. You can write blogs, answer surveys, participate in focus groups, build websites or design logos, and much more.

You might also consider talking to your employer about making reasonable accommodations that would allow you to complete a portion or all of your job at home. For example, if you work in an office, they may allow you to access databases and software from home to continue collaborating with your team.

Getting hurt isn’t something you plan, but if you love bike life, then you know there is a real possibility that something could go wrong – even with protective gear on. If you’re stressed with trying to figure out how to provide for your family, there are options like those discussed above that can help to lighten the load as you recover. Once you’ve figured out how to care for your family financially, the next step is following the doctor’s orders, eating a well-balanced meal, and working diligently towards a full recovery.

Simple Ways to Support Your Pregnant Wife

As a mom of three cute girls, I can tell you that any pregnant woman needs support from her family and especially the husband. Handling cravings is not an easy task. Pregnancy can be delicate as the woman’s body undergoes several changes from experiencing morning sickness to feeling dizzy. That is the reason every woman needs the support of her husband during pregnancy. While fathers may not do everything, there are several ways they can support their wives and help make the pregnancy journey exciting. Check some of the ways my husband supported me during pregnancy below.

Handling house chores

House chores are considered the work of women, but do you know many can do them better than women? If your wife is pregnant, this is where you come in and support her during this exciting period. As the pregnancy continues to grow, it may become hard to handle some of the house tasks. Husbands can help in handling some tasks such as mopping, cleaning tubs, and vacuuming may help ease anxiety and stress on the pregnant mom.

Understanding the wife’s desires

It can be hard to live in the same house or walk around with a pregnant mom because of her crazy cravings. But the husband should learn to understand their wives. If you have a child, you can attest to this. However, if you thought pregnant ladies do this intentionally, you are wrong. Pregnancy can turn a woman into something else. All of a sudden, she will stop taking her favorite dish or crave for something she never ate before. But that is that is her world. Husbands should avoid asking questions.

If the wife says she cannot finish her food, do not question her. If she is opposed to drinking yogurt, let her be, do not ask her why. Understand her cravings and avoiding eating the food she is sensitive to when she sees you. It might be when she sees or smells such foods she gets irritated. If you see a horizontal line on her belly, do not ask why and when did the lines nigra appear.

Pay attention to her

During my previous pregnancy, I used to talk a lot even when my husband wants to sleep. Well, you might be having a pregnant woman who speaks a lot or is too emotional. It can be disgusting especially if your wife was always jovial and now gets angry for no reason. You may not know why she is angry, but she has a lot to think of; her unborn child’s health and how long her labor period will be. If she wants to share her fears about the unborn child, as her husband, you need to pay attention to her. This will help her feel comfortable and do away with the anxiety that is unhealthy for the baby.

Conclusion

Pregnancy can be challenging but not as such when there is someone offering support in all the ways he can. Pregnant women can sometimes behave like babies and husbands need to pamper them. Show support by taking her out and making her feel loved.

Single Dad Powers Through with an Amber Teething Necklace

I never imagined I would be a single dad. My beloved wife passed away during childbirth, and it’s been just me since that moment.

Of course, there’s been many challenges since my beautiful baby girl was born. The sleepless nights, crying, and wondering if I’d be able to do this with Hillary. I’ve made it through all those challenges so far, and well, I’ve been highly rewarded by all the smiles, laughter, and play times I’ve been able to have with Darla.

Last year, Darla turned one and she started teething. She didn’t too well with it – fever, swollen gums, general fussiness, and again, sleepless nights. I was worried about her, so I took her in to see the pediatrician. She’s been great from the very beginning and ensured me she would be okay, but I may want to give her some Tylenol and Motrin to get her by until her tooth comes through.

So, I did it. I ended up swapping the Tylenol and Motrin every 4 and 6 hours. I didn’t feel good about it, but I did it because that’s what the pediatrician said.

And then, another tooth started coming through…. I didn’t feel too good about giving Darla the Tylenol and Motrin the first time, and I really didn’t want to do it again. I had to find another solution because the teething rings weren’t helping.

After a quick Google search, I discovered amber beads for baby teething. I read that many parents have been using it to reduce fever, inflammation, and pain. I also found that Europeans and Middle Easterners have been using them for centuries to treat everything from arthritis to the flu.

All you have to do is keep the amber on the skin for most of the day, so that the warmth of the body can warm the beads. This releases the Succinic Acid that then seeps into the skin and into the bloodstream. What’s great is that it’s completely natural – Succinic Acid is found in foods like bread, cheese and milk. It can support the metabolism and immune system. All these benefits really made me want to try it.

My Experience with Amber Teething Necklaces

While I was searching for amber teething necklaces, I realized there were two types – Baltic amber and regular amber. I decided to investigate the Baltic ones and found that they are more potent with Succinic Acid (the treatment oil) than the regular ones. I wanted the necklace to be effective, so I decided on Baltic Wonder for the necklace since they source their beads from Lithuania – the best place for Baltic amber.

It only took about three days for me to see a difference in Darla. She was happier, and her fever was gone. I decided to keep the necklace on her (removing it only at night) and she’s never had another teething symptom. She’s been cutting teeth like crazy too, so it’s been great.

I really feel that the Baltic amber teething necklace helped us power through teething. Hopefully, my experience will help you if you’re going through something similar with your baby, and you don’t want to give him/her pain relievers.
