Teaching Daddy How To Use the EGO Power Plus Mower

Oh, hi there! I’m just enjoying the weather and prepping my, errr. I mean Daddy’s EGO Power Plus Lawn Mower to mow the lawn. As you can see, I’m properly dressed in non-matching yard work attire with my pink Ramblers from Soft Star Shoes. Thanks, dad……

Mommy and Daddy have been really busy lately and haven’t made time to learn how to use this fine piece of battery powered machinery. I’m not sure why they’re so busy, but something about watching The Walking Dad. I don’t know what’s so great about that, I walk with Dad every day and it’s nothing spectacular.

Anyway, I’ve taken it upon myself to learn how to operate the EGO so I can explain it to Daddy. Turns out, this mower, while highly futuristic and cool looking, is quite simple to use. Not to mention just fun to look at it’s fine lines…..and buttons!

DSC_0687

Obviously, the coolest button of them all is for the LED headlights! How many other push mowers have those? Seriously, I don’t know, I’m asking.

Daddy looked lost when I turned the lights on, so I had to show him a few times. First, they are off….

DSC_0692

….and then, viola, you push this button and they’re on!

DSC_0694

It doesn’t take a button scientist to figure that one out, geez, Dad!

Now that we have the lights figured out, all you need to do is simply push the 56-volt lithium ion battery, only the most powerful battery in the industry, into its compartment until it clicks securely in place.

With the handles unfolded, you take the key to…..what?….yes, that one, Dad.

DSC_1891

Ahhh, just look at the provided instructions, Dad, they’re pictures so you should catch on rather quick.

DSC_1879

Got it? Good. Once it’s running, just start pushing!

DSC_0679

What? Seriously?! No, not over the pavement! Push it over to the grass, you know, the stuff lawn mowers cut.

DSC_0682

See that green stuff, Dad? That’s the grass. Do I need to do the first run through for you?

DSC_0684

Here, I’ll start since you look confused.

DSC_0656

Your turn now. There you go, Dad, good job!

DSC_2335

See, that only took 20 minutes for the front and back. Gotta love that 20 inch deck! Now, how about you push me on my tricycle with the extra time we have?

DSC_0661

Phew, teaching parents is hard work! I might be exhausted, but I’m still cute.

Disclosure: The EGO team sent Daddy their powerful, battery powered, and 20% less noisy-than-gas mower to review free of charge. All thoughts and opinions express here are his (or my) own. I like the lights!

Our Bearaffe Takes on the Snow

There’s a blizzard in Texas! Well, not really, but we got a lot of snow on Friday. And by “a lot” I mean a few inches.

I’m sure anyone in the Boston area would like to punch me in the face for making a big deal about a few inches, huh? I wouldn’t blame you if you did. Plus, I’d at least have enough snow to make a fresh ice pack to put on my face to reduce the swelling. 🙂

This week, we’ve had 2 other mornings that started with snow but quickly melted into mush. Nothing I wanted to let Avery roam around in. But Friday’s snow was an all day event and covered the ground in a beautiful white sea of fluffy snow.

Going Mom was adamant that I take good pictures of Avery in her first snow since you never know how long it will be until it happens again around here. Technically, this wasn’t her first snow, but it was the first time she got to walk around in it and really get the feel of what it’s like.

After she had her breakfast and I had a couple cups of my cold brew coffee, it was time to “bear” the snow. You’ll get the quotes soon.

cold brew coffee

Our best cold weather outfit for Avery is a pink full-body suit that resembles a bear cub with a hood that has little ears attached. I’ve posted about it several times, and she even had a dark purple one that she outgrew last year.

Lots of room to grow in here!
Lots of room to grow in here!

Wow, time sure does fly! Wouldn’t squeeze her in that suit if we tried now!

Her new suit is a little big on her, but she seems content with wearing it.

DSC_0911

Well, sometimes. But since she would be out in the cold walking around in snow, she needed more than the hood that just falls off of her. She need an upgrade to a beanie, a giraffe beanie!

DSC_0377

Ummm, look up for the camera, Avery. Please?

DSC_0376

Much better. Now the title of the post should make more sense. Bear + Giraffe = Bearaffe and she (it?) is ready to take on the snow!

DSC_0380

She started off with confidence despite the snow having her surrounded. After analyzing the situation, she felt it would be best to move around to better assess the situation.

DSC_0382

Okay, gaining more confidence. Can’t stop moving, must keep the snow guessing!

DSC_0385

Yep, feeling really good at this point. I’m just “walking all over” the snow; literally and figuratively.

DSC_0388

Oh, hi there, dad, I thought you told me to be careful. What’s there to be careful about? I’m already a snow pro!

DSC_0391

See? Just smilin’ in the snow. I can do anything and go anywhere!

DSC_0399

Like all the way in our neighbors’ yard. Look at me just rompin’ and stompin’ like a real bear…

DSC_0401

OOoomph! Ummm, just wanted to see what this stuff tastes like, I meant to do that.

DSC_0425

I’m good, the snow isn’t, so I won’t do that again. Time for more exploring! So pretty and fun to walk all ov….

DSC_0436

Gahhhh, this is annoying…..and cold! Kinda starting to not like this stupid snow.

DSC_0437

Okay, I’m up by my face still feels cold. What gives?

DSC_0439

Get it off, get it off!

DSC_0416

Thanks, Dad. How about next time you NOT take pictures and just help me right away?!

DSC_0423

I’m feeling lost. Where am I? Is that silver thing another person?

DSC_0407

That’s it, I’m done. I’m going to get up and walk my bear-self back inside. Go ahead, just keep taking pictures and laugh.

DSC_0425

My face is so cold, but also burns. What does that mean?

DSC_0403

Please, just stop with the pics and take me inside!!

DSC_0440

Why did you take me inside? I was just “warming up” out there! Take me ba…

DSC_0449

What the crap are you giving me my kettlebell for? This isn’t what I wanted! Just listen to …..oh? Music? I should dance?

DSC_0443

Snow, what snow? I love kettlebell dancing!

And that’s pretty much how our snow experience went down on Friday. Avery loves being outdoors, so anytime I take her in, she starts crying, but it didn’t take her long to turn happy and playful again. I’m sure being warm and dry helped!

The Dad Network

Do you remember your kids’ first snow or have they not experienced it yet?

If they have, how do they like it? You? I’m not a fan of the cold at all, but if it snows, I enjoy it while it lasts.

Our GoGo Squeez Applesauce Skeptic

I used to laugh at those little portable pouches of squeezable fruit puree and never understood the point of having them. Then we received a GoGo Squeez Applesauce pouch as a party favor for our neighbors’ 1 year old son’s birthday party.

applesauce, healthy, gogo squeez

Packaged food is highly scrutinized before I allow it in our home. IF it’s a gift and if it doesn’t pass, I politely (sometimes not so polite) decline. But the pouch gave me no reason to reject as it’s certified organic and only has apples and apple juice concentrate as ingredients. I could’ve really picked at it since it’s basically a lot of sugar with little fiber like you’d get from eating a whole apple, but I’m trying to pick my battles here.

Plus, the girl’s crazy and runs rampant every day, she needs the carbs! That said, I opted to give Avery the pouch to see how she liked it. Here’s what I think went on in her head as I offered this strange, non-bottle for her to eat…..or is it drink? Slurp? Ahhh, whatever!

DSC_4795

Okay, I see he’s holding something and it’s getting closer to my face, but I’m not sure what to do about it. Is it a bottle? Do I eat the whole thing?

DSC_4804

Looks like I’m supposed to get whatever it is from that white spout. Seriously wish I knew more about what Dad puts in my face. And why does he always give me green things?!

DSC_4801

Well, here goes nothing, no turning back now.

DSC_4802

Weird. It’s definitely NOT milk or liquid that I’ve ever tried! But, I think I like it.

DSC_4805

This feels very strange in my mouth, like someone already chewed my food for me. More!!

DSC_4807

Good, he got my message through telepathy. More pre-chewed goodness coming my way!

DSC_4808

Mmmmm, if only I knew how to hold things for myself. Meh, Dad is my servant and I’ll make sure to “milk” it as long as possible.

I love the last photo with her beautiful blue eyes! I wouldn’t say I’d go out of my way to buy more of these, but it is nice to know she’s accepting of them. Just in case we’re out and about and I forgot to bring my own homemade goodness along.

Do you give your kids squeeze pouch foods or have you before?

Any favorite flavors/brands?

I’ve seen the reusable pouches where you make your own puree, maybe I’ll try that sometime.
