Beach Dancing: #MySundayPhoto

Each day of our recent trip to Corolla, North Carolina at The Outer Banks has many photos I know our family will look back on for years. Last week depicted our daughter’s ocean jubilation, and this week captures my daughter and me dancing on the beach.

I’m convinced that without her, I’d look pretty damn awkward here.

We just had a late Father’s Day celebration in our home, and my prized gift included a photo coffee mug. This pic was one of several others I absolutely love. As a guy who starts each day with tea and coffee, my mug gets a lot of use, and this one has quickly become the best reason to caffeinate my day. Going Mom knows how sentimental I am about things, so the mug was perfect.

Ocean Jubilation: #MySundayPhoto

We returned from a family beach vacation in Corolla, NC a week ago. It was Avery’s first time to see the ocean, and everyone’s first time in the Outer Banks. I’m sharing our trip via posts one day at time. As I write this, I only have up to day two written, but the biggest takeaway has already been established; Avery loves the ocean!

From the first day to the last, our sweetheart relished her time on the beach. This picture, taken by my wife, captures her jubilation perfectly.

Spending time together in the salty water and sandy shores had us bonding as a family with experiences. No big plans to manage, just pure fun enjoying life’s simple pleasures together.

If you care, you may follow along in more details as I share each day of our trip. Check out our first day of just getting there and our second day soaking up all the ocean has to offer. Make sure to check back for the rest of the days. Not sure how long it will be, but the entire trip will hopefully be re-lived soon enough.

Bobcat Butt Hugs: #MySundayPhoto

This past week, we ventured through new territory on her WOOM 1 Balance Bike to explore the construction trucks in our neighborhood. Avery will call out a bobcat from a mile away, and when there’s multiple, her excitement can hardly be contained.

When we happened upon these two skid-steer loaders (we just call them all Bobcats for Avery) parked back to back, she proclaimed they were giving each other butt hugs. Hence, bobcat butt hugs. Can’t really say she’s wrong, but I guess it would make for an awkward explanation if she were to say outloud around a group of people. I have a feeling it’s coming….

I’m loving the adventures we’re going on, and we are so proud of our little girl covering new ground and going farther than ever. Before we know it, she’ll be racing several miles on her bike while leaving mommy and daddy in the dust. The cliché of kids growing too fast also means going too fast in this case.
