What is it About Mount Pleasant, South Carolina that Attracts Homebuyers?

If you are looking to buy real estate in America, then Mount Pleasant Homes for Sale are a good investment prospect. This is because of the growth that the area has had, the number of attractions, and the history of the area everyone finds affection for. Those with a higher budget will want to head to this part of South Carolina.

Growth

Mount Pleasant is a large and suburban town in Charleston County, South Carolina. As the largest town in South Carolina, it has for several years been recorded as having one of the state’s fastest growing rates in terms of how its population and economy have grown. This makes it a perfect place to invest in real estate, as it is more likely to increase in value as the place prospers. The population has doubled between 1990 and 2000, demonstrating just how prolific this growth has been.

Top Attractions

We can think about the top attractions of a place when we are looking to buy real estate for two reasons. One, we want to enjoy them ourselves, and two, we want an area to be a prosperous one that is visited by tourists so that, as talked about above, its economy will grow. The income that this area receives can then be enjoyed by local businesses and their residents.

So, what are the main attractions in Mount Pleasant?

To name a few, we have:

Boone Hall Plantation – An estate founded in 1681 and one of the oldest working, living plantations. South Carolina is known for its plantation houses.

Charles Pinckney National Historic Site – A cotton plantation preserved in part to tell the story of its forgotten founder.

Mount Pleasant Farmers’ Market – Food from local farms to sample.

Mount Pleasant Palmetto Islands County Park – 900 square area of pleasant and inspiring waterways.

Mount Pleasant Pier – A part of the Memorial Waterfront Park Complex. It is 1,250 feet long, stretching out as far as Charleston.

Patriots Point Cold War Submarine Memorial – Remembering the cold war decades. A period where there was just the threat of military action.

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum – Exhibits from the major wars which are there to tell the story of the heroes awarded the CMH.

Pitt Street Bridge – Situated in Old Mount Pleasant, the park is situated at the heart of residential homes. It might be a wonderful way to be close to an elderly relative.

Shem Creek Park – Central to a thriving marine and fishing industry.

Splash Island Waterpark – Owned by Charleston Country Parks Department and the perfect environment for kids to enjoy splashing around.

Two Blokes Brewing – Not just a regular brewery, but also a tasting room.

History

Modern developments where everything around them is all modern, too, are all very well, but there is nothing like having some history about a place to explore and research for ourselves. Mount Pleasant can certainly claim this because the Old Village of Mount Pleasant dates to the 18th Century. The area is known for its historic houses. Its history is also represented in some of the above attractions.

Higher Budget Choice

If you are lucky enough to be able to withstand a higher budget, then the Mount Pleasant properties represent something that many would desire to own but cannot afford. With this higher price comes a house in an in-demand neighbourhood that spells luxury.

To put a figure on the difference, housing expenses here are 37% higher than the national average. So, this does weed out those who cannot afford the upkeep on a property to have it looking nice for people who want to admire their surroundings. If you enjoy your food, the grocery prices are only 2% higher than the national average once you have purchased your real estate here. If you compare South Carolina to Florida, though, then South Carolina is a lot cheaper in terms of property taxes and gas. So, you can be in a more exclusive area of South Carolina by choosing Mount Pleasant but avoid the trap of ending up in an area as expensive as Florida. We all have to put the ceiling on the budget somewhere. However, talk to your real estate agent and see just how they can help you on price. There is no need to forgo your dream house when there is negotiation to be done.

In summary, Mount Pleasant in South Carolina is attracting residents because of its range of top attractions that can be enjoyed regularly, because it is steeped in history, and because it fulfils a higher budget but is still cheaper than some other parts of America to afford.

Our Crazy Awesome Future in Blogging

When I first started blogging, it was for Just Add Cayenne , where I went about sharing my life along with healthy recipes, fitness tips, and other health related topics fit in. Then I started this crazy awesome blog, Going Dad (I won’t deny that I’m biased), to basically do the same thing.

But instead of life as an accountant who really really really is into health and fitness, I shared life as a stay-at-home dad wanting to have a way to capture life as my daughter, Avery, and wife, Kelley, all learn and grow together.

I’ve enjoyed writing about all of the memories we’ve already had in just the 2 years of Avery’s life, but I’ve also been trying too hard to write about everything which is becoming increasingly hard. This little girl is doing more than I can keep up with to gather and share on the blog anymore. Even she’s getting tired of my usual memory “tracking” method.

Normally, I jot down the things she does/says on random pieces of paper I have around the house, but it got to where I was trying to write down something new every other minute. Which meant I was totally losing track of just enjoying the freaking moment/entire day!

I could go on, but I’m sure you get the drift. So, here’s my new plan for the blog….

As Avery gets older and can actually communicate with real words, I’d like to have her help to do product/service reviews. I will also do reviews that only parents/health-minded people would be into since I obviously take a major interest in the health and fitness world.

Why should you, the reader care if all you want is to see our darling daughter and hear what she’s been up to? Well, hopefully you’ll find what I review of good use in your life and you’ll gain insight on things you may never have known existed otherwise.

I’ve already performed several reviews on here, but now I can focus on doing more. In addition, I plan on sharing recipes I create, workouts I love or put together, healthy lifestyle hacks, or just favorite foods you can buy online. Yes, that means I’ll have more affiliate links that will earn me a whopping few cents if you click on them.

I have nothing to hide, I’m hoping to earn a little extra cash if possible because, lets face it, we could all use more. Right?

This most likely means less blog posts, but I do enjoy sharing random facts/funny things I find entertaining, so be on the lookout there. Damn Pinterest really knows how to suck you in, and before you know, you have eleventy-billion new pins when all you wanted was a picture of a cat!

On the topic of social media such as Pinterest, I’ll still be sharing plenty of life happenings with Avery and my wife on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, so be sure to follow these if you don’t already to keep up to date if you care. Seriously, why wouldn’t you  want to see this crazy-haired cute kid?

If you’re some creepy guy, I’d rather you not, but I hope everyone else will follow along and will find what I have to offer useful. Be on the lookout for reviews covering a multitude of things from items for kids and parents, to anything surrounding the world of health and fitness. Just know, I WILL NOT try products I feel are not safe or worth even using, and will give my honest opinion on what I do try.

As the days, weeks, and months pass, I’ll be making updates to the looks and other aspects on here, so check back often. Please?

What do you think of this new blogging approach?

Is there anything you’d personally like to see reviewed first?

One Thing I Miss About My Old Job after 6 Months of Being a Stay-At-Home Dad

It doesn’t seem like half a year has already passed since I’ve become a stay-at-home dad, but here I am, stay-at-home daddying (it’s a word) with our precious 8 1/2 month old daughter. I have to keep repeating “precious” to myself as she’s in teething mode and wants to make sure everyone knows.

No I'm not!
I don’t want these things in my gums!!

Her screams get progressively louder as if in competition with herself and she refuses to be outdone. How long do they say this takes? Around two years? Damn.

But, I remember saying goodbye to my office job and hello to my new office a.k.a. home and how much better I felt. Needless to say, I’ll gladly to listen to screams over getting on another conference call to discuss the “how’s” and “who’s” of whatever was going on at the time.

Walking out the doors for the last time.
Walking out the doors for the last time.

I’ll stop there since I could easily get myself “worked” (ha ha ha) up and blab on about my despise of having a desk job. We aren’t made to sit so long and be so sedentary as we……oh, crap….see, I’m still doing it!

Anyway, life as a stay-at-home dad started off slow with a baby who could only eat, poop, pee, cry, and sometimes smile. Luckily, babies experience rapid growth and Avery is surprising us with new skills/abilities almost every week!

Now at almost 9 months old, she’s a very mobile crawler showing signs that walking isn’t too far away.

I know everyone says that’s when I start to go crazy because I’ll always have to watch her, but I’m still excited. Before I know it, we’ll be able to wrestle, play outside, and go on (short) hikes.

Going Mom has to remind not to get ahead of myself and try things too soon. What? Is it that bad when I get on the ground and push our baby in an attempt to wrestle now?

Seriously, dad?
Seriously, dad?

Oh….okay then, I’ll ease up.

I know I have a more meaningful role now than I did when employed, and am ever so grateful we are able to make this work for our small family.

I’m extremely grateful for my lovely wife who goes in to work each day and handles various situations way better than I ever did/could. Then, when the workday is done, she comes home and helps deal with whatever is going on with Avery. Thank, Kelley, you are appreciated more than words can describe!

Speaking of, although I’m happier and more proud as a stay-at-home dad than my old job, I do miss one thing; my wife. Yep, we worked for the same company, in the same building, and even in the same office.

I was the only person in the building with a desk converted to standing and I could look over and see her desk not far away. We would talk to each other through the company’s internal messaging service and visit each other’s desks frequently.

Very rarely would we miss a day of going on a walk together around the nearby trails before having our lunch. There were times when we would give each other notes or share a laugh at an inside joke no one else understood.

My wife is my best friend, and now I don’t get to see her as much as when we worked together. I miss her, I miss our walks, and I miss being able to walk over to her for no better reason than to just say “hi.”

The good thing is that our relationship has grown even stronger since I’ve become a stay-at-home dad. Gone are the days of me stressing over work and letting it drag me down at home; now the time I do see her means more and we both recognize it. Sure we still have are disagreements like any couple, but they’re (usually) over fast and we get on with life.

So, in the end, it’s a worthy trade-off we are both happy with and it seems to be working for our family of three. I still go on a daily walk, but with Avery, and again with both of my girls if time is permitting.

Yes, I’m still adjusting to the stay-at-home life, but after 6 months, I feel good about our decision and am ready to continue down this path of daily obstacles and adventure.

Do you or would you ever consider working in the same office as your spouse?

Have you been both an employee and a stay-at-home parent? Which one are you now and what do you prefer?
